“As a Canadian of African descent, the suffering of the people in Sudan moves me.
Their country has been plagued with a series of crises over the years. As with all conflicts and wars, the most vulnerable, women and children, endure all sorts of hardships and abuse. The recent strife, which began in April 2023 around the capital city of Khartoum, has been disrupting even more lives. According to UNICEF, continuing violence in Sudan has left more than 13.6 million children in urgent need of life-saving humanitarian support – the highest ever recorded in the country.
I am advocating for this cause to give the children of Sudan hope toward getting through this disruption by supporting UNICEF’s efforts to provide them with basic necessities such as food, water, healthcare, vaccines, as well as child protection and mental health services.”
